Shibori is a Japanese technique of binding, stitching, and clamping fabric to create pattern when dye is applied. Loosely, you could call it “Japanese Tie-dye”.

Video interview of me!

Carl Tyer of Sound Images produced this cool slideshow video interview of me.  In it I discuss my background and my inspiration for this year’s line of clothing for the Redress Raleigh Eco-Fashion Show.

A more proper Redress recap!

Whew!  I have been catching up with semi-cleaning the house, running errands, and taking naps since the Redress Raleigh weekend…. After designing for the Eco-Fashion Show on Friday, May 30, and attending the wildly-interesting and fun Redress Eco Fashion & Textiles Conference (EFTC) the next day!!

Elizabeth Galecke of Elizabeth Galecke Photography took these amazing photos.  She’s not only an incredible photographer, she’s a dear friend.

Same goes for Kristen Randall of Mood Swing, who made the naturally beautiful jewelry for the show!

Emily Kirchem of Edie Kaye collaborated on the final coral-motif dress!!

Redress Raleigh Eco-Fashion Show 2014, here I come!!!!

I’m thrilled and honored to, again, be part of the Redress Raleigh Eco-Fashion Show!!!  It’s a fun show, organized by the wonderful ladies of Redress Raleigh, and has a great following!
It will be at Cobblestone Hall at City Market in downtown Raleigh, May 30.  There will also be a marketplace there.

To show you just a glimpse of what has inspired me for this upcoming collection…
My friend, Robin Thomas, recently took this gorgeous and inspiring photo of her view during a plane flight up north.
I’m always in awe of the color and pattern that presents itself in nature, whether it is a great big view such as this one, or the teeny-tiniest flower in among the moss.  This is what moves me.

BIG weekend THIS weekend!!

Here we go!
Friday, from 6 until about 8:30 or so, I will be at my NEW space in The Carter Building, at 22 Glenwood Avenue, Studio 11C.  It’s really easy to find… Just follow the stairs in the parking lot up to the pink door on the left!  I’ve strung some holiday lights on the railing, so you really really cannot miss it.
This building is chock full of amazing artists, so you’ll have plenty of other artists to check out while you’re there.  The Carter Building is on page 2 of the First Friday Raleigh map: http://www.godowntownraleigh.com/_files/docs/final-july-december-first-friday-map-and-guide.pdf

On Saturday, from 11-4, I will be at the Carrboro ArtsCenter for Elf: A Holiday Craft Fair!! It was a pretty phenomenal turnout last year, and thoroughly look forward to it this year!! https://www.facebook.com/events/207812176063134/

Then Sunday!!  From 12-5, I will be at 410 S. Boylan for the Boylan Heights Artwalk!  Always a Raleigh favorite, it’s in its 21st year!!  Admission is free!  There will be some food for purchase, too, if you think you might be there a while!  🙂
